I really love daikon in stirfrys and I've been trying to eat more of a carrot and daikon soup to help my digestion. I guess I don't eat it often enough to notice any improvement, but I do enjoy it eating it.

I'm definitely going to make dashi. It sounds like the perfect broth. I know what you mean about those answers - it was hard and took me forever.

Chow vegan,
I didn't include the recipe for the daikon in this post, but it was much better than I ever remember daikon tasting when my husband cooked it. I never cook it but am going to start by using the recipe from class.

Penny,
I agree with you - you should try Japanese food. The flavors are subtle but wonderful, and the food is very beautiful.Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16146578985330272891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2279822094292237889.post-26660215779830265162010-02-13T09:34:40.882-08:002010-02-13T09:34:40.882-08:00I've never tried Japanese food, but this is ma...I've never tried Japanese food, but this is making me think I SHOULD try it! I have a friend here in Scotland who's lived in Japan and is very fond of it, so I'll be asking her advice, too...Pennyhttp://svh2.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2279822094292237889.post-57359073619697508142010-02-13T06:53:40.967-08:002010-02-13T06:53:40.967-08:00What a great class! It lasted forever but still, that's a hell of a lot!

Marla,
I recommend trying the eggplant. It was so easy and so good. I'll be making it next weekend for company.

Tiffany,
Thanks for the cookbook tips. I found them on Amazon and added the second one to my cart for consideration. We haven't eaten there in years, but the food you're showcasing looks a lot like what we used to order there. We'd be so anxious to go there when we visited Boston, and then we'd sit around and complain that Madison didn't have a vegetarian restaurant.... well, now we do and I have yet to visit it! I guess I should go out and get some kombu (that's something I always had in the house, but not lately; why not?) and make some dashi!!!wingraclairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13097504486955858205noreply@blogger.com
