Fab dried cinnamon apple chips

Some time ago — longer ago than I'd like to admit — I was offered a sample pack of dried apples from the Bare Fruit snack company, and, if I liked the sample, the opportunity to offer my readers a special deal on ordering the fruit. I looked at their Web site and saw that the fruit was simply organic, dried fruit, so I said, "yes" to a sample. (They actually didn't even ask me to write a review, just to provide a special offer to my readers.)

I was expecting a small snack pack, but what I received was a giant, 14-ounce bag of really delicious, crispy apple chips made from 100% organic apples and 100% organic cinnamon.

Here's what the Web page says:
  • Made with organic cinnamon for that classic apple and cinnamon taste
  • Grown in Washington state
  • 100 Percent organic and kosher
  • Fat and Gluten free
  • No added sugar, preservatives or additives
  • Available in 14 oz (397g), 2.6 oz (73g) and 0.64 oz (18g) sizes.
I've served them to my women's group, to my family, to a 4-year-old and, repeatedly, to myself. Everyone thought they were delicious. (The 4-year-old loved them until she noticed the skin, which she was unable to pick off. ) The crunchy texture is satisfying in the same way chips are, but minus all the fat and salt. I love them, and think they'd make a great party snack, addition to a packed lunch, or snack for anytime you need a quick, satisfying, crunchy and healthy bite to eat. They would be great to take along on a hike, and I plan to take them on our next long car trip.

What do you think? Have you tried these, yet? Would you like to? If I receive enough of a positive response, I'll contact the Bare Fruit company to see what sort of deal they had in mind. I think I need another bag!

Disclaimer: I received the apple chips free of charge. I was not asked to write a review. I received no money nor promise of monetary gain. I am not an affiliate of this company. All opinions are my own.

    2. I have been curious about them, and they would be good for traveling if I was in a pinch but normally I wouldn't buy them when I can easily dehydrate apples on my own.

      1. Yes, I agree you could make your own, but sometimes there may not be time to plan ahead, and these make a welcome addition to a snack collection.

    4. Intriguing! Plus, they look so pretty. It seems like there could be a lot of fun possibilities with them. I like that they don't have any added sugar or preservatives.

      1. I like the ingredients, too — I wouldn't buy them if they had sugar or other additives. I'd love to see what you would do with them!

    5. Yes, hard to stop. Though, I don't get as carried away as I do with chips. These are more filling, or satisfying, or something.

    6. I would definitely try these, especially since they don't have anything extra added to them. Are they available at Whole Foods? I have an upcoming trip that they would be perfect to take along.

      1. I'm not sure where they're avail;able — mine were shipped from Amazon! We should check the Web site to see where to buy them.

    7. Dried fruit is such a great snack. I can totally relate to the four-year-old's (granddaughter?) aversion to skin. Five-year-old JK is the same way - and not just for apples, but basically all fruit and potatoes. An offer would be great, of course!

      1. Yes, not just skin, but all "extraneous" matter clinging to a food, like a bit of parsley or onion. I keep everything separate for Miss E. When I made her lentil soup recently, I puréed the cooked veggies and added them back into the soup so she wouldn't see them. Hopefully she'll outgrow this. My boys never had food hang-ups — once they started eating, they ate everything.

      2. Yes! JK is the same way! Any miniscule, microscopic piece of something attached to the something he actually intends to eat is unwelcome. I am to separate everything for him, and yet his eyes still tend to spot things that I need a magnifying glass to see. My girls were unlike this, too. Hmm, do I see an arranged marriage in the future for JK and Miss E? It would serve them right to have kids as picky as they are, and we could almost guarantee that between the two of them. :-)

      3. HA! You're so funny. I laughed out loud at the arranged marriage, but I can see the merits. I notice she doesn't have a problem eating things with chocolate chips in them — desserts, I mean. I haven't tried serving broccoli and chocolate chips.

    8. I always stock up on these apple chips when we go to Costco - they're my favorite!

      1. I've never seen these at my Costco. I'm going to look for them next time I'm there — I really like them. If they don't carry them I'm going to put in a request.

    9. My favorite is also the cinnamon ones and they are SUPER addictive. I had to put a limit on myself. :)

      1. They are crunch crunch addictive. Somehow they seem healthier than chips, though. And I think I like them better.

    10. They sound great. Apple chips are a really fun, easy snack but I like that they're still chewy! I might side with the 4 year old about the skin, though - it always gets stuck in my teeth!

      1. These aren't chewy — they are super crunchy! And the skin is virtually unnoticeable in your mouth — no tooth-sticking that I noticed. From the skin, anyway.
