Tofu and veggies over mung bean noodles. |
It's the last day of vegan mofo 2013, and this is my post #22. I have a cold, and don't feel like writing much, so I intend to go out in a blaze of bowls. Just imagine most of these bowls having a kick from some form of hot spicy condiment.
But before I bid adieu and head off to a hot shower, I want to thank my multitudes of fellow vegan bloggers for providing inspired reading and mouthwatering recipes all month. It was a challenge and an pleasure to keep up with you all!
Chips, kidney beans, cabbage, carrot and quinoa hot and cold bowl.
Warm black beans and veggies over salad bowl — I like a mix of hot and cold foods in a bowl.
Believe-it-or-not breakfast bowl. Sometimes sriracha over chickpeas, kale and rice hits the spot in the morning.
No measure, no recipe carrot nacho sauce for a tasty nacho salad bowl.
Barbecued soy curls over salad over quinoa bowl.
Summer squash and soy curls over mung bean noodles bowl.
Last but not least, I'm a little sorry that I don't have a berry bowl to end with in symbolic honor of my "Top 50 vegan blogs of 2013" award from berryripe.com. Thank you berryripe.com for the honor! Berryripe.com is a great resource site filled with exciting and healthful vegan recipes, and useful health and fitness information.
Congratulations on being one of the to 50 vegan blogs!! Much deserved!! Congrats too on making it to 22 posts. That's quite an achievement. I squeaked in at 20 posts on the nose.
ReplyDeleteMy stomach was grumbling as I looked at all of your bowls, especially the top one with the mung bean noodles. That has my name all over it!
Thank you and thank you. 20 posts was my goal and there were days I didn't think I'd get it done. Some people blog every day — after mofo, we all know how hard it is to maintain!
DeleteMung bean noodles are so fast and satisfying, if you don't mind minimal nutritional value. :)
So many great looking bowls! Carrot nacho sauce sounds very intriguing & delicious.
ReplyDeleteI hope your cold goes away very soon!
Thanks! I picked carrots because they are the right color, but the sauce was great — Vitamix comes through again!
DeleteI really need to acquire some bigger bowls.
ReplyDeleteI like bigger bowls when I'm having salad because raw greens take up so much space and I like a lot of greens. I also like to fill a larger bowl halfway because then I don't spill like when I use a small one. But for something like soup, that just gets put into the bowl without mixing, I just use a regular small one.
DeleteBeautiful, all of em. I really like the look of the mug bean noodles! So awesome all sauced up. Really have to pick up soy curls at some point too.
ReplyDeleteMung bean noodles are really cheap and suck up sauce perfectly. Yum. Soy curls are satisfyingly chewy and very versatile.
DeleteOh no! You DID get Darrol's cold! Bowls are the best when you're sick. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYes. But no hard feelings. I'm so glad I made a big pot of soup before I got hit.
DeleteI love savoury bowls for breakfast too -- thanks for more inspiration, and feel better soonest!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. And thank you. I usually like something simple like a smoothie for breakfast, but sometimes I go through phases where anything goes. :)
DeleteLOL at "a blaze of bowls". That's definitely how it should be :-) Congrats on finishing MoFo and I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteMofo ended just in the nick. I'd be hard pressed to carry on at the moment. But feeling a little better, thanks.
DeleteWhat a beautiful assortment of delicious bowls! I'm so sorry you have a cold! Hopefully it's one of those quickie colds that only last for a couple of days. I hope you feel better very soon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making it to the Berryripe.com top 50! Awesome!
This is day three — that has to be it, right? I want to go to yoga tomorrow.
DeleteOh boy I need me some more soy curls it's been a while, and I would so eat that believe it or not bowl for breakfast, or it what's in it anyway. Feel better very soon. Applause for another great Mofo.
ReplyDeleteThe bowl has chickpeas, rice, sriracha and a mother load of baby kale. It was a while ago so I don't remember exactly what else was in there.
DeletePS Kudos on your well deserved honor!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have a cold! Bummer. I'm so impressed with all your fancy bowls. I like the idea of meals like that so much, but somehow, I almost never make them. I love all the variety and creativity in your selection. It's really inspiring! I need to think-beyond-the-recipe a bit more often!
ReplyDeleteI have the opposite problem. I want to try to cook more from recipes! I just don't have enough patience to read ingredient lists and directions unless I'm testing recipes or reviewing a cookbook.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon, Andrea! I will miss your daily posts :-)
ReplyDeleteCourtney
Thanks, Courtney. Daily posts are fun for a short period, but so time consuming. I don't know how people do it!
DeleteOh I hope you feel better asap! I feel like that carrot nacho sauce could cure many ailments :) I love bowls so much.
ReplyDeleteNow, if I could just get someone to make some carrot nacho sauce for me ... I guess I'll have to settle for the remains of the large pot of soup I made on Saturday.
DeleteLook at this stunning noodle dish! This is my kind of meal - Autumn comfort food for the Asian foodie! Sending you a sunshine & lots of well wishes, and hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteNoodle bowls are my favorites, too. As for sunshine, we did have a little yesterday, but it's back to rain today.
DeleteCongrats on the award -- that's quite an honor!
ReplyDeleteI love your breakfast bowl -- I often gravitate towards something hearty and savory for breakfast (many times I end up eating my lunch at 9 am at my desk and save my intended breakfast for lunchtime), so it looks right up my alley. And what a powerhouse of ingredients to start the day right!
Hope you're feeling better!
Thank you. I sometimes reverse breakfast and lunch, too.
DeleteCongratulations on being one of the top 50 vegan blogs!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I made it to 20 posts, but I tried my best, but it's absolutely fantastic that you did so many posts!
I love bowls of food, especially once fall hits, these all look amazing.
Thanks! I was trying hard to get to 20, and was pretty surprised I went over. Does that make me two up for next year? :) My mom hated casseroles and never served foods combined in a bowl — I'm just the opposite.
DeleteCongratulations! And what a coincidence, I recently out up a hot noodle soup. Our pics are great and this dish looks scrummy...a lovely, nutritious and filling meal. I hope you'll check out some of my recipes too. X
ReplyDeleteThank you. And thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I had a lot of fun reading through your blog.
DeleteSo many yummy looking bowls! Now I don't feel so weird about putting sriracha all over my breakfast. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs long as your breakfast isn't a fruit smoothie, I don't see a problem. :)
DeleteBowls = <3 I eat bowls for dinner more often than I care to admit. So much fun that you can easily ad-lib nightly. Hope you're feeling bettter by now.
ReplyDeleteFood in a bowl — almost doesn't matter what it is — is my comfort food. If it has noodles in the bottom, all the better. Feeling much better, thanks!
Deletewow they look so delicious! thanks for this post!
