Peeled Snacks — much ado about mango

The package of Peeled Snacks much ado about mango was in my Vida Vegan Con gift bag. That's right, I'm talking about Vida Vegan Con from last May. I didn't just recently eat it, in case you were wondering, but I'm just now getting around to reviewing it.

According to the Peeled Snacks Web site, the snack packages contain "the highest quality organic and natural ingredients without the use of refined sugar, oil, or preservatives. Peeled Snacks provide a natural source of fiber, vitamins and minerals, and are gluten-, soy-, and dairy-free." And they are amazingly delicious. I wish I had a photo of my eyes opening wide at my first bite — the flavor was as rich and wonderful as a piece of perfectly ripe fresh mango. It was almost juicy. No kidding. On a recent trip we found Peeled Snacks in an airport shop in Madison Wis., while searching for a snack to take on the plane, and I snatched them up. They were a real bright spot on a wall of not-so-healthy selections. I just wish the package was a little bigger.

(I'm a little behind in commenting on posts because we have guests staying at our house and I've been very busy with them. And, my computer is in the guest room! I'll try to catch up after Tuesday.)

    1. Not me. I first got them in May at VVC, then found them at the airport in July. I'm just now getting around to posting, though the photo was taken long ago. I'm slow, you know. Always a little behind.

  3. Is it really chewy? I always find mango a bit of a jaw workout!

    1. It was perfect — not dry at all. Almost succulent, I'd say. I was mightily surprised and pleased.

  4. I love dried fruit and I love Peeled snacks! I have never tried the mango, though, so I really appreciate the review! I was worried they would be really dry and like chewing leather (some dried mango is like that), but it is good to know they are good. I will have to try the mango soon!

    1. The peeled snacks are anything but dried out — very surprising texture for dried fruit.

  5. I'll have to keep my eyes open for these. I think I'd love them! I've never had dried mango before.

  6. Those look so good! I didn't get those in my bag but I assume they changed it up for each bag depending on what they had. I get dried mango from the Farmer's market and it is a great snack.

PS...I think I found a way to comment successfully on blogspots. I had to create a mini blogger profile....I hope this works.

    1. Ha! I had to create a wordpress profile to comment on wp blogs, and I have to sign in to use it. I removed all the obstacles to commenting here, and so far Blogger is catching all the spam. If it starts to slip through, I'll figure out what to do.

  8. I loooooove dried mango. All dried fruits, really, but mango is special. I love the chewy texture. Not sure if I've had this brand though.

    1. All forms of mango and great. This was the first time I've had it dried, and it was delish.

  9. This would be an awesome find at the airport, somehow I always get stuck with run of the mill trail mix or chips. I haven't heard of this brand before, I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

    1. I usually try to bring lots of snacks with me but every so often I get stuck at an airport trying to find something to eat. I was thrilled to find peeled fruit, though I was really looking for something salty.

    1. They are. But, they are so good that they disappear way too fast. Like I said, I wish the bags were bigger. :)
